General Questions

What is included in the registration fee?

A: A soft, cotton-blend commemorative t-shirt, goodie bag, and race bib with timing tag are included in your registration fee. Registration fee for children 12 and under also include a complimentary superhero cape and mask of their choice (while supplies last).

Do I have to sign a waiver to participate?

A: Yes, when registering online you will need to electronically review and agree to a waiver.

Can children enter the race?

A: Yes! We encourage children of all ages to participate. We ask that children 16 and under be accompanied by an adult.

Can I run or walk with a stroller or baby-jogger?

A: Yes. Participants with strollers and/or baby-joggers can participate in our 3K Run/Walk. We ask that those with strollers and/or baby-joggers position themselves towards the back of the start line, remain on sidewalks, and yield to runners.

Can I run or walk with dog?

A: Yes. We love having our four-legged friends join us on race day! Participants with dogs can participate in our 3K Run/Walk. We ask that those with dogs position themselves towards the back of the start line, remain on sidewalks, and yield to runners.

Are there water and aid stations on the course?

A: Yes. Water stations are positioned throughout the course and EMTs will be available on bikes as needed.

When will the race end?

A: The race will end approximately around 9:30am. Due to time limitations with local law enforcement, certain areas of the course will close before 9:30am. All running and walking at the time that the local police and course marshals have left the race course is at your own risk and we ask that you move to sidewalks at that time.

Can participants use headphones while running?

A: Headphones are discouraged for safety concerns. If you choose to wear headphones, please be aware of course marshal and police directions.

How far is a 3K?

A: The 3K course measures at 1.84 miles.

Are roads closed for the race?

A: There are no street closures or driving restrictions during our race. Residents have been informed about the race, and police will be directing traffic. Run inside the coned areas and follow all course marshal and police directions.

Virtual Race Questions

As a virtual participant, when should I run my race?

A: Anytime throughout the month of April! You can choose to run your 8K or 3K all at once or break it up into multiple runs to reach the respective 4.92 mile and 1.84 mile goal. You can of course join us in spirit by running your race on the morning of April 30th!

Will I receive a t-shirt or goodie bag as a virtual participant?

A: If you opt in and pay for a race t-shirt during your online registration, one will be mailed to you at the completion of race month. Please allow up to 2 weeks after race day to receive your t-shirt.

Do I need to document my race?

A: There is no need to document your run for any official reasons. You can of course share with us your race story including timing for us to share in our media releases by emailing raceinfo@casafairfax.org.

Will I qualify for top finisher awards?

A: Unfortunately, no. Our top finishers are determined by net time through RaceWire, our timing company whose tags are tracked on the physical course.

Volunteer Questions

What volunteers are needed for the race?

A: There are many different tasks that volunteers complete for the race, both leading up to race day and on race day. We encourage you to visit our Volunteer page by clicking on the link above under “Get Involved.” Our greatest need is for volunteers to act as course marshals to safely guide our runners.

Can youth volunteer?

A: Yes. Children ages five and up can volunteer with us on race day.

Can I volunteer and run?

A: Yes. You can volunteer ahead of time by assisting us with publicity and outreach or on race day by signing up to set-up or clean-up in order to volunteer and participate in the 3K.

I have not heard from the Volunteer Coordinator yet. What do I do?

How do I register a team?

A: Click here to register. Follow the steps to create a team and register yourself in the 3K. If you are creating a new team, you are automatically designated the team captain. Share this process and link with fellow team members.

What if I cannot find my team?

A: The team captain has to create the team. If a captain has created a team, and you are unable to find your team during the registration process, please contact us by calling the Race Hotline at 703-273-3526 or email raceinfo@casafairfax.org.

Is there a team size limit?

A: No, there is no team size limit. The only requirement is that a team be composed of 2 or more participants.

Are teams required to finish together?

A: No, teams do not have to finish as one.

Event Day Questions

Will the run be cancelled if weather conditions are poor?

A: No, the run will take place rain or shine!

Where do I go to collect my race packet, t-shirt, and swag bag?

A: Prior to race day packet pick up will be available in our office lobby located at 4103 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, on Thursday, April 27th between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm and on Friday, April 29th between the hours of 11:00am and 6:00pm. On race day, packet pick up will be available on the event grounds from 6:30am to 7:30am.

What post-race events can I participate in?

A: After you cross the finish line, we invite you to participate in our post-race celebration. Entertainment includes refreshments from local restaurants, a family friendly DJ, kids’ activities, photo booth, raffle, and more!
