We had a gorgeous day and terrific turnout on Saturday May 4 for Fairfax CASA’s 3^rd Annual Run for the Children!  Thanks to all who participated, either as runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and supporters. 

With more than 900 registrants, including 28 running teams, 200 volunteers, and the help of our community businesses and friends, we exceeded our fundraising goal of $100,000.  Incredibly, a generous supporter of our work matched that amount!  We are awed to think of how many children we will be able to help this year because of the success of this event. 

We are grateful to each of you for being a part of the day’s success.  We hope you will join us next year as we once again — Run for the Children.

Next year’s race date will be announced as soon as possible.  Start gathering your teams now!

Packet Pick-up: Early Packet Pick-up and in-person registration will be available at Pacers (10427 North Street, Fairfax, VA)

• Thursday, May 2 – 12 pm-7pm 
• Friday, May 3 – 10am-4pm

On-Site Packet Pick-up and registration will be available on the Fairfax County Courthouse grounds (4110 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA) on Race Day – Saturday, May 4, 7am – 8:15am.

Raffle Tickets: Stop by Packet Pick-up or the CASA office to purchase raffle tickets for the wonderful prizes that have been donated for our event.  Chances will also be available for purchase on race day. You can buy chances for an iPad, 2 tickets to a Ravens game, 2 tickets to a Nats game, a private wine tasting for 10 people, 2 in-home massages, a golf outing for four, a year’s worth of bagels, and many more fantastic prizes!  You can purchase chances just for the items you like and you need not be present to win! — You can’t pass this up!  Check out our raffle items, and plan your attack.

Race Day Information:

What time to arrive: The race will start promptly at 8:30 am. Please plan for some light traffic. To be on the safe side, plan to arrive by 7:30 am.  Once again, food for our participants is being donated by Jason’s Deli and Hard Times Café.  Our favorite DJ, Chris Rao will be turning on the tunes starting at 7 am.  Tracy McMullen will warm up the crowd at 8:10 am.

Because we have so many fantastic teams signed up for the race this year, we invite each team to come to the stage between 7:30 and 8:00 am to be recognized and have their picture taken by our professional photographer. (All teams are welcome – you do not need to be listed on our Teams webpage to be recognized.)

Parking/Directions: The best place to park is the Page Avenue parking lots. (See the Directions page for detailed information about how to get to the parking garages:)

Where to go: After you park, please make your way to the grassy area in front of the Fairfax County Courthouse. If you need to pick up your race packet or have brought friends who want to register, look for the tent marked “Registration & Packet Pick-up.”  We can easily accommodate day-of registration, so spread the word!

Food/Water: Three water stations are set up along the 8K route.  After you have finished running/walking, we hope you will enjoy some delicious chili provided by Hard Times Café.

After the race: After the race, we invite all participants and their friends to stay and enjoy our brief program, during which we will honor our CASA volunteers, give out race prizes and choose our raffle winners.
